Pastor Kay M. Hines

Servant/Leader & Pastor

 

Rev. Dr. Kay M. Hines is the Pastor and servant-leader of the vibrant congregation of Pleasant Ridge A.M.E. Zion in Gastonia, NC. Dr. Hines is the first female pastor in the rich history and legacy of Pleasant Ridge. Pastor Hines is an anointed vessel, accepting salvation at age 10. She has a love of ministry and exclaims a powerful word of transformation, restoration, and hope! Her unique style of preaching, passionate energy, and ability to connect with a diversity of people, has allowed her to proclaim the gospel connectionally and ecumenically. Pastor Hines has a sincere love for every life/individual, the kingdom, and the body of Christ, as she leads in excellence to effect liberating transformation.

Pastor Hines was born and reared in Charlotte, NC.  She credits the power of true believers and prayer as the impacting factor in her formative years and fruitful ministry.

Pastor Hines has served in various capacities in the local church, conference, and connectional levels. She is currently active as a Conference Studies Instructor, Conference Studies Registrar, and a member of The A.M.E. Zion Church Connectional Codification Committee.

Rev. Hines has a diverse pastoral background as she has pastored in the Los Angeles California area, the mountains of Asheville, NC, the Lake Norman Community of Charlotte, NC, and recently appointed to The Ridge. She is an ordained Deacon and an ordained Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church who preaches and reaches beyond denomination bounds and socio – economic barriers.

Pastor Hines has served as a volunteer Chaplain and Pastor in the Buncombe County Women’s Correctional Center. Her professional experiences include Operations Management in Corporate America, a Special Education Teacher in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, and Coordinator of Academic Services and LMS Administrator in the non-profit sector.

Pastor Hines earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Master of Theological Studies from Anderson Theological Seminary, and Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Hood Theological Seminary.

Pastor Hines is committed to the value of family and is the proud mother of one daughter, Jaden.

Pastor Hines is a practical theologian who embodies serving God with excellence, caring for God’s people, and transformative ministry. Pastor Hines is often sought as a revivalist, evangelist, and teacher.
